On the eve of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons an information desk with the message “Learn what trafficking in persons means” was set up in two secondary schools in Nikšić- Secondary vocational school Nikšić and Secondary school of Economics and Catering Nikšić. The aim was to inform high school students on how to recognize forms of human trafficking in their everyday life and work and how to respond appropriately.
During this event, we spoke with over 200 students and distributed 90 pens with the messages: ‘’Be part of the fight against human trafficking!” and ‘’Beware! You can be a victim too’’ and 150 stickers with messages: ‘’Beware! You can be a victim too’’; ‘’Open your eyes, react! ’’; ‘’Recognize and report human trafficking!’’; ‘’Be part of the fight against human trafficking!’’
In the conversation with young people, we came to the conclusion that there is little discussion about this topic, that they believe that there is no human trafficking in Montenegro and that it does not happen in our country. Additionally, the majority of young people who participated in this activity do not recognize all forms of human trafficking, and most often they recognize sexual exploitation and child arranged marriages.
