On 03/08/2017., the International Women’s Day, a group of forum theater actors of the Center for Roma Initiatives in cooperation with the Women REA Network “FIRST” in the Roma settlements of Željezara and pod Trebjesom performed two performances on the topic of child’s arranged marriages and domestic violence. The performances were watched by about 100 members of Roma and Egyptian population among whom there were children as well.
Audience shown significant interest in the performance, they carefully watched the performance and to the representatives of the Centre for Roma Initiatives stated their opinions that the child arranged marriages are still present in the community and that the performance was excellent.
After the held performances representatives of the Center for Roma Initiatives and Women REA Network “FIRST” shared to the women symbolic gifts as well as calendars with pictures that represent activities that CRI has conducted on the issue of child contracted marriages and flyers describing the presence and consequences of child marriages whose creation was funded by CARE International.
