From 31/10 to 04/11/2017 a five-day seminar was held in Niksic for 15 Roma and Egyptian high school students and faculty students from Niksic and Podgorica.
The first two days of the seminar participants were introduced to their role as mediators in local communities, the approaches to the victim, the phenomenological characteristics of contracted marriages, the legislative arrangement in the field of contracted child marriages and domestic violence and protection measures, the cycle of violence, types of gender-based violence, concrete examples of discrimination, recognition of child abuse and neglect. This part of the training was led by a representative of the Security Center Niksic and a representative of the Center for Roma Initiatives, while the other part of the training was led by Sead Đulić, who, together with amateurs, designed and trained scenarios for the performance of forum theatre shows on domestic violence, which amateurs will perform during 16 days of activism simultaneously in Niksic and Podgorica.
The seminar was realized as part of the project “Education without violence” implemented within the regional project “For active inclusion and rights of Roma women in the Western Balkans II”, with the support of CARE International Balkans in cooperation with local partner organizations Montenegrin Women Lobby from Podgorica and NGO “Ruža” from Berane.
