In the period from 12th to 13th November 2022 the Center for Roma Initiatives held a total of 10 workshops in Berane in which 123 participants from the Roma and Egyptian community took part.
We talked with parents, 52 of them, about the forms of violation of children’s rights, the consequences of child arranged marriages and penal norms while 71 young people got familiar with their rights and institutional mechanisms for their protection in an innovative way. Young people and adults are also introduced to two licensed services of the Center for Roma Initiatives: Psychological counseling and the National SOS line for potential victims and victims of child arranged marriages.
At each individual workshop young people who had the highest level of knowledge in the field of children’s rights and mechanisms for their protection won the first three places (school bag, school accessories and a set of notebooks) while the other participants received symbolic prizes.
The workshops were implemented within the project “United in the realization of children’s rights” which is supported by UNICEF in Montenegro.
