On 24th November on the occasion of marking the beginning of the 16 days of activism 2022, the Center for Roma Initiatives had two study visits to licensed services in Nikšić. On that occasion, 8 Roma and Egyptian activists from Nikšić, Podgorica and Bijelo Polje visited: ‘’Defendology Center for Security, Sociological and Criminological Research of Montenegro’’ and “SOS telephone for women and children victims of violence Nikšić” which provide services and support to women and children victims of violence and children who live and work on the street.
Through direct conversation, activists and members of the women’s REA network “THE FIRST” had the opportunity to become familiar with the work of the services and at the same time we thank the representatives of the aforementioned organizations for their time, cooperation and hospitality.
On the same day, a meeting was held with the members of the women’s REA network “THE FIRST”.
The activity was implemented within the project “Active Involvement of Roma and Egyptian Women in the Prevention of Violence and Child Arranged Marriages in Montenegro” which is implemented within the program “Ending Violence against Women in the Western Balkans and Turkey: Implementing Norms, Changing Minds” funded by the European Union, implemented by the Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Montenegro and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN WOMEN).
