[:en]The Center for Roma Initiatives is for the second time the winner of the first 2021 EU Award for Roma Integration in the Western Balkans and Turkey. This year’s edition of the award is dedicated to promoting equality through employment in Roma communities. The second holder of the award is the Red Cross of Montenegro.
The organization implemented projects “Suppression of the spread and mitigation of the most severe negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic among marginalized communities in the Western Balkans”, financially supported by German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the resource implementation agency CARE International Balkans; “Social Inclusion through Women’s Economic Empowerment in Montenegro (JAKA) with the support of the Austrian Development Cooperation, CARE Austria and the OAK Foundation, as well as “Social Entrepreneurship – A Step towards Independence “with the support of the EU, with which it applied for the award.
For the organization, the award is a kind of an incentive and result that we significantly contributed to the realization of material security for families who for many reasons can not exercise the right to employment.
“The award is of great importance because it gives us motivation to continue our work at the same pace,” said executive coordinator of the Center for Roma Initiatives Fana Delija.
