[:en]With an initiative called ‘’Our children have my blood too’’ On 18th March 2022 activists of the Center for Roma Initiatives within 3 (three) Roma and Egyptian settlements in Niksic through the method “Door to door” spoke with about 400 members of the Roma and the Egyptian population about the fact that according to the Law children also belong to women. In practice, while getting out of domestic violence Roma and Egyptian women usually leave their children with their father with the conviction “It is their blood”. With the initiative, we wanted to empower women and point out that children belong equally to them despite the patriarchy that prevails in the community and regardless of the fact that some members of the Roma and Egyptian community assign children to their father without a court decision.
The activity was implemented within the project “Adequate Inclusion and Equal Access to Roma and Egyptian Women in Combating Gender-Based Violence” which is financially supported by the OAK Foundation.
