During the 16 days of women activism on two one-day seminars, 37 employees from the Security Centers of Herceg Novi and Bar were introduced to the problems of child marriages in Montenegro, and concrete examples of discrimination in reporting cases of child-contracted marriages by individual officials in certain institutions. They were also acquainted with the life stories of women who were victims of contracted marriages, legal bases for suppressing child marriages, and had the opportunity to exchange their previous experience in combating domestic violence and child marriages.
The mentioned seminars were arranged on November 29 and December 6, 2017 within the project “Through Joint Struggle to Suppression of Gender-based Violence and Child Contracted Marriages in the Roma and Egyptian Communities in Montenegro”, that is implemented by the Center for Roma Initiatives in cooperation with IPA Section Montenegro, and financially supported by the OAK Foundation.
